The Elkhorn Archers and Grande Ronde Bowmen invite archers to ride the chairlift and hike down the mountain, shooting at 80 life-like animal targets on the way.
Bob Reedy of Baker City, president of the Elkhorn Archers, said competitors will come across alligators, baboons and a moose, among other species.
“We have a Bigfoot but we haven’t shot him yet,” Reedy joked.

The Bigfoot, he said, is just for pictures, even if he is a foam target.
Participants of all ages are welcome to compete. From as young as 2 to 65 and older, everyone is encouraged to bring their own bow and participate. Reedy says “just being around family and people who love archery” is his favorite part of the weekend.
Attendees can ride the Elkhorn A-Course, the La Grande B-Course or try the walking course, “the Lower 20.”
Those looking to make a little extra money this weekend are also in luck. Certain targets on all courses will have a money dot, and if hit are worth $300.
The two-day event allows compound and traditional bows, as well as rangefinders.
Pre-registration for the event opens at the resort on Friday, July 21 at 3 p.m. Entry fees for adults are $35 for one day or $60 for both days, $30 and $50, respectively, for youths, $20 and $30 for cubs, and $70 and $120 for families, including two parents and two children younger than 18. The fees include a chair lift ride.
Food, beverages and camping will be available by calling 541-856-3277, extension 12 or at anthonylakes.com.
