Letter to the editor for April 7, 2025

I stand against the dismantling of what this nation has been for 250 years. Thank you, Jeanie Zebrak, for organizing the rally.
The Baker City Herald article noted a counter-protester shouted “You’re not Americans, get out of here.” I heard that falsity.
A good American is a person who respects our Constitution. The actions and words of Trump show he does not. One counter-protester, in a letter to the editor recently (Hells Canyon Journal), made a false statement about the First Amendment.
Disrespecting our Constitution and defending breaking the law is wrong. Everyone should understand that. Disappointingly, the counter-protesters support a convicted felon who has a penchant for lying and who disrespects our nation’s allies. He flaunts the laws of our nation.
Many veterans were there Saturday. How can a veteran support Trump when he is gutting the Veterans Administration as part of DOGE’s nonsensical hacking of government services?
Veterans, especially in the rural West, are fearful the cuts to the VA are going to severely impact them and their friends. Community health programs are being cut, which impacts everyone.
Trump and Musk haven’t identified any fraud and waste. They cut the Office of the Inspectors General, the watchdog organization to find waste. That office was tasked to find fraud and waste for the Obama Administration. This list should have been the starting point for Trump and DOGE.
I forgot! Most fraud and waste come from corporations bilking taxpayers out of billions.
People, please pay attention to the actual facts.
