HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Baker girls travel to Vale Thursday looking to avenge earlier loss to Vikings

The Baker girls basketball team has a chance to avenge one of its losses when the Bulldogs travel to Vale Thursday night, Jan. 16, for a nonleague game against the Class 3A Vikings.

Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. PST.
In the first meeting, in the Baker gym on Dec. 10, the Bulldogs rallied from a 10-point deficit in the third quarter to take a two-point lead late in the fourth quarter.
But the Vikings came back to force overtime, and they went on to win 54-48 in the extra period.

Vale is 12-1 and ranked second among Class 3A teams. The Vikings’ only loss was at La Grande, Baker’s Greater Oregon League rival, 40-28 on Dec. 17.
Vale won the rematch, downing La Grande 48-34, on the Vikings’ home court on Jan. 11.
Baker has won four straight games, including a 43-31 win in the league opener against Pendleton on Tuesday, Jan. 14, in the Baker gym. Baker is 10-5 overall and ranked 11th among Class 4A teams.
The Baker boys, 9-6 and ranked fourth, will also be traveling.
The Bulldogs play at Cascade on Friday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m., then take on Mountain View of Vancouver, Washington, on Saturday at 2 p.m.
