BAKER GIRLS BASKETBALL: Bulldogs nip Seaside at Crook County tournament to improve to 2-0

The Baker girls basketball team, less than 24 hours after beating Burns 38-24 in the season opener, was back in action against Seaside in the opening round of the Crook County Tip Off tournament in Prineville on Thursday night, Dec. 4.

Baker beat the Seagulls 51-45.

Baker led 29-23 at halftime. After the Seagulls cut the lead to just two, at 37-35, after three quarters, the Bulldogs outscored Seaside 14-10 in the fourth quarter.

Freshman Molly Rasmussen, who led Baker with 10 points as she did in the win over Burns, scored four points in the fourth quarter. Her older sister, Gwen, a junior, also had four points in the quarter, and senior Jayden Whitford made a 3-pointer.

Lily Logsdon had nine points, and fellow junior Gracie Spike had eight. Both had a pair of 3-pointers, as the Bulldogs had six long balls to Seaside’s two.

Logsdon scored five of her nine points in the second quarter as Baker turned a 12-11 deficit into the 29-23 lead at halftime.

Both teams struggled from the free throw line. Baker made 11 of 24 shots, Seaside 13 of 21.

Lili Miller led Seaside with 12 points.

Baker will play Crook County on Friday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m. Crook County opened the tournament Thursday with a 39-24 win over Marshfield.
