Two Pine Eagle runners, Gabe Brown and Lindsey Brown, also competed, Gabe in the competed Class 1A/2A boys meet, and Lindsey in the 3A/2A/1A girls meet.

Gwen Rasmussen was Baker’s top girls finisher, placing 25th with a time of 20:35.1

Sofie Kaaen, Baker’s lone senior, was 31st at 20:53.5.

Other Baker runners:

Baker coach Suzy Cole said Rasmussen, Gressley, Heriza, Timm, Gracy and Andersch all set personal records. Kaaen ran her fastest time of the season.

“The girls — once again I was totally amazed,” Cole said. “We were hoping for top 10 as a team and ended up four points out of fourth. Only Gwen and Sofie ran here last year, so very impressive for how well the girls all ran. Perfect way to end the season. We are going to miss Sofia, she ran a great race and has meant so much to this program.”

In the boys race, Baker senior Daniel Brown and junior Jack Joseph qualified by placing in the top seven at the district meet.

Brown placed 21st with a time of 17:14.5.

Joseph, a junior, was 61st in 18:25.9, a personal best.

“Jack and Daniel both ran really well also,” Cole said. “Jack continued to progress every race and just gets stronger and more confident, we are excited to try and get the boys team back to state next year.

“Daniel ran a very gutty race,” Cole said. “He just wasn’t able to overcome his pneumonia, sometimes that is just how it goes. Daniel did everything he could and is very happy with his finish given the circumstance.”

Brown was eighth in last year’s state meet.

La Grande’s Brooke Perry won the girls race in a time of 18:36.5.

Carter Bengston of Cottage Grove was the boys individual champion with a time of 15:41.2
