Baker Fall Ball 3-on-3 hoops tourney Nov. 8-9 at BHS

The ninth-annual Baker Fall Ball 3-on-3 basketball tournament is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8-9, at Baker High School.

Admission is free to the event, which also includes free throw and 3-point shooting contests.

The 3-on-3 tournament includes boys and girls divisions for grades 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-12 and 18 and older.

Concessions will be for sale throughout the tournament. Games are scheduled Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

All proceeds benefit Baker AAU basketball teams, helping with tournament entrance fees, uniforms and other expenses. Jebron Jones, BHS boys varsity basketball coach who started the 3-on-3 event in 2015, said the AAU program includes separate teams, for boys and girls, from grades 4 through 8.

The number of teams in the Baker Fall Ball event has grown steadily, from 28 the first year, to 38 in 2021 (after the 2020 event was canceled due to the pandemic), to 42 in 2022 and to a record 52 teams in 2023. That year the event moved from Baker Middle School to Baker High School.

“We just outgrew the middle school,” Jones said on Monday, Nov. 4.

He said 55 teams have signed up for this year’s event, setting another record.
