BAKER, PINE EAGLE CROSS-COUNTRY: Baker’s Daniel Brown 2nd at Baker Invitational

Baker senior Daniel Brown was second in the boys race, and Pine Eagle freshmen Lindsey Brown finished fifth in the girls race at the Baker Invitational cross-country meet on Thursday, Sept. 26, at Quail Ridge Golf Course.

On a sunny and warm afternoon, the Baker boys finished third in the team standings. The Baker girls placed fourth.

Gwen Rasmussen was Baker’s top finisher in the girls race, placing 11th.

Sofie Kaaen was 15th.

Daniel Brown’s time for the 5K course was 17.29.78.

Jett Leavitt of Enterprise finished first, at 16:51.41.

La Grande had the top two girls runners, with Brooke Perry finishing first at 19:02.19, followed by Cecilia Villagomez Edvalson at 19:52.39.

Brown also competed in the Bob Firmin Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Eagle Island State Park in Idaho. Brown finished 31st in the boys varsity division II race with a time of 17:12.2
