The Baker and Union County sheriff’s offices have issued Level 1 — be ready — and Level 2 — be prepared — evacuation notices for an area around the Boulder Creek Fire burning in the Eagle Cap Wilderness northwest of Boulder Park.

The fire, reported Sunday afternoon, was estimated at 150 acres on Monday afternoon. Firefighters on the ground are working on the blaze, which is in steep terrain, and aircraft have dropped retardant.

Baker County Sheriff Travis Ash said there are no permanent residences within the evacuation area.

There is a summer home tract near the Boulder Park trailhead, where several privately owned structures stand on public land.

Ash said one goal with the evacuation notice is to alert hikers, campers and other recreationists about the fire in the area.

The Level 2 evacuation area is within the wilderness.

The Level 1 area includes the West Eagle and Boulder Park trailheads.
