Baker football camps, Baker Quarterback Club barbecue planned in August

The Baker Bulldog football camp is set for Aug. 14-18 at Baker Bulldog Memorial Stadium. The camp is free for all athletes thanks to the sponsorship of the Baker Quarterback Club and Baker City Aircraft.

Monday, Aug. 14

• BHS practice, 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

• BMS practice (grades 7-8), 10:30 a.m. to noon

• YMCA camp (grades 3-6), 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 15 and Wednesday, Aug. 16

• BHS practice, 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

• BMS practice (grades 7-8), 10:30 a.m. to noon

• YMCA camp (grades 3-6), 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

• BHS practice, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 17

• BHS practice, 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

• BMS and YMCA practice, 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

• Baker Quarterback Club barbecue, 6:30 p.m.

• BHS scrimmage, 7:30 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 18

• BHS practice, 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

• BMS and YMCA — no practice

The Aug. 17 schedule includes weighing and timing of players, contact drills, and a camp photo with T-shirts. The day culminates with the Baker Quarterback Club barbecue, featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks for $5 per person.

All campers eat for free, as well as quarterback club members who renew their membership for 2023. Baker football apparel and fan gear will be for sale at the barbecue.

Following the barbecue, the BHS team will have a scrimmage.

Baker Quarterback Club

The club is a nonprofit formed in 2003 to support football throughout the community. Money raised through club memberships and other fundraising supports football at the high school, middle school and youth programs.

The club has bought equipment, helped with playoff meal and transportation costs, and helped individual players with financial assistance. The club also has helped with the Shrine dinner and donated to improvements at Baker Bulldog Memorial Stadium.

The club, along with Baker City Aircraft, sponsors the football camp to make the event free for all athletes.

The club offers three types of memberships:

• Family, $25 per year

• Business, $50 per year

• Corporate, $100 per year

More information about becoming a member or helping the club will be available during the barbecue on Aug. 17.
