Joan (Wigand) Fredrickson

Formerly of La Grande 1930-2019

Joan Fredrickson, 89, of Portage, Michigan, and formerly of La Grande, died Sept. 13 at Rose Arbor Hospice. A viewing for family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. Sept. 21, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center on Gekeler Lane in La Grande. Following the memorial service, there will be a graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Joan was born June 4, 1930, in Boise, Idaho, to Roy Addison and Lorraine Lillian (Chesnut) Wigand. On Aug. 11, 1948, she married Robert Fredrickson, and they are the parents of six children.

After residing in Pocatello, Idaho, for many years, the family moved to La Grande. Joan’s focus was always on her family. She considered her most important work was in the home and her church service. She also worked as an office manager for many years.

Joan shared her love of embroidery, stitchery, acrylic painting and pastel drawing with many friends and family members until her hands wouldn’t allow. She enjoyed a good novel, table games and jigsaw puzzles.

Surviving relatives include her daughters and their husbands, Jody and Bruce Bullough of Portage, Michigan, Shara and Neal Weatherspoon of Salem, and Deanne and Rodney Feik of Savannah, Georgia; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fredrickson; parents, Roy and Lorraine Wigand; children, Kathleen Andrews, Mark Wigand Fredrickson (infant) and Robert Wigand Fredrickson; and sister, Bettie Wigand Bartschi.

Memorial contributions may be made to the LDS Humanitarian Center or a charity of choice in care of Loveland Funeral Chapel, 1508 Fourth St., La Grande 97850.

Jordy J. Erickson

La Grande 2019-2019

Jordy James Ty “JJ” Erickson, 4 months, of La Grande, died Sept. 11 in an automobile accident. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 22 at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center. A celebration of life dinner will begin at 3 p.m. at the Dusty Spur Cafe, 1502 S Ave., La Grande. RSVP is appreciated.

Jordy was born May 22, 2019, in Enterprise, to Derrick and Christy (Blouin) Erickson. In his short life he touched many people. Jordy loved his siblings and watching football. He was named after Jordy Nelson of the Green Bay Packers.

Surviving relatives include his parents, Derrick and Christy Erickson; siblings, Harrison Sanchez, Taryn Erickson, Mason Wilhelm, Madison Wilhelm and Keighan Erickson; grandparents, Michelle and Ernie Erickson, Jeri and Nathanial Blouin, Ty Condit, and Jim and Laura Barnes; great-grandparents, Beth and Dennis Reisch and Chris and Dave Geise; godmother, Jessica McCallister; and aunts and uncles, Pauline Figueredo, Grace Blouin, Wil Erickson, Katherine Munkers, Valayshea Shaffer and Dennis Crandal.

Julie A. (Robertson) Gribling

La Grande 1951-2019

Julie Anne Gribling, 67, of La Grande, died Aug. 20 at her home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 28 at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center. Private interment will be at the Island City Cemetery.

Julie was born Nov. 15, 1951, in La Grande, to Edward and Irene (Kuisti) Robertson. She graduated from La Grande High School and later in life graduated from Eastern Oregon University to inspire her children to go to college. On Dec. 16, 1989, Julie married Greg Gribling.

Julie enjoyed going to secondhand stores and crocheting blankets, doilies, doll clothes and many other items. She also enjoyed canning and had competitions with her father to see if she could can faster than he picked. Julie competed in handgun shooting and loved to go camping and looking for huckleberries and mushrooms. She also loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren, as well as other kids.

Surviving relatives include her children and their spouses, Eric Hamblen of Vancouver, Washington, Alaric Hamblen of La Grande, Malinda and Dan Abrao-Yates of Caldwell, Idaho, Rhiannon and Scott Carlson of Weston, Emmett Gribling of La Grande, Caitlin and Anthony Berger of Boise, Idaho, and Casey and Karen Gribling of La Grande; numerous grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Greg Gribling.

Maryann ‘Annie’ S. (Canfield) Richmond

La Grande 1947-2019

Maryann “Annie” Sterling Richmond, 72, of La Grande, died Sept. 7 at a local care facility. A private family service and celebration of life is planned.

Known as Annie, she was born Sept. 1, 1947, and was raised on the Central Oregon Coast by parents Dana and Anna Canfield. She later moved to La Grande, and on March 21, 1980, she married Greg Richmond.

Annie was a member of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church for more than 30 years. For many of these years, she was active in the Lighthouse Apostolic Academy, as she loved children and helping any way she could. She and Greg were certified foster parents and fostered more than 30 children over the years. Annie loved to volunteer and enjoyed the outdoors, cooking and spending time with friends and family.

Surviving relatives include her children and their spouses, Maryann and Gary Bell of La Grande, Tony and Deanna Richmond of Tri-Cities, Washington, and John and Kelly Richmond of Auburn, Washington; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Ninfa Canfield of Portland; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Greg Richmond; parents, Dana and Anna Canfield; and parents-in-law, Merton and Avril Richmond.
