County reports 28th COVID-related death

An 81-year-old Baker County woman who died on Oct. 11 at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center is the county’s 28th COVID-19-related death, the Oregon Health Authority reported today, Oct. 13.
The woman tested positive on Sept. 27. The presence of underlying medical conditions has not been confirmed.
In a press release, Nancy Staten, director of the Baker County Health Department, said:
“I’m so sorry for her loved ones. This is incredibly hard, and all of us at the Health Department send our condolences. There continues to be a significant number of County residents who are very sick or hospitalized, and as much as we wish it was, this isn’t over yet.”
