Michael Edward Moeller: The rosary will be said Thursday, Aug. 8, at 6 p.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in La Grande, and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 9 ,at 10 a.m. at the church. POST-PRISON SUPERVISION (Parole Board hold): James Dean Logsdon, 54, of 1370 Ninth St., 5:40 p.m. Monday at his home; jailed.

PROBATION VIOLATION and CONTEMPT OF COURT (Two Washington County Circuit Courty warrants): Fernando Chaires, 24, of Beaverton, 7:53 p.m., Sunday, on Interstate 84, about 10 miles north of Baker City; jailed.

Accident report

On Interstate 84, abut 10 miles south of Baker City, 8:56 p.m. Saturday; a Ford Escape driven by Natalie Pontzer Fink, 18, of Park City, Utah, was traveling east in the left lane passing when the vehicle struck a black cow on the highway. Police said Fink’s vehicle came to a controlled rest on the left shoulder of the road. An Infiniti QX60 driven by Xiaoyu Chen, 31, of West Jordan, Utah, struck the dead cow in the left lane and lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle then struck Fink’s vehicle and came to rest in the median. Chen and his passenger, Yinyin Heng, 29, of West Jordan, Utah, were taken by Baker City ambulance to St. Alphonsus Medical Center where they were treated for minor injuries.
