One man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence early July 29 after the 1997 Ford F150 he was driving crashed into a cement barrier on La Grande’s North Second Street Interstate 84 overpass. The La Grande Police Department responded to the single vehicle crash at 2:41 a.m. There was significant damage to the vehicle and the barrier, which separates the roadway from the sidewalk on the west side of the bridge. The driver sustained only minor injuries. He was cited and arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. He is lodged in the Union County jail. LGPD and the City of La Grande Public Works Department are working to assess the extent and cost of the damages.
