Free Comic Book Day returns to Baker City Library Saturday, May 3

Published 1:30 pm Monday, April 28, 2025

The Baker County Public Library will celebrate Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 3, at the Baker City branch, 2400 Resort St.

Starting at 10 a.m., visitors can pick up to four free comic books, while supplies last. Patrons can also enter a raffle for prizes and gift cards to local businesses.

Free Comic Book Day started in 2002 is an annual event on the first Saturday in May. Participating comic book specialty shops across North America and around the world give out exclusive comic books for free to showcase the industry. Each year, thousands of participating locations give away over 5 million comic books.

This is the ninth year the Baker County Library District will celebrate the event.

Once again, the library’s comic shop sponsor  is The Collector’s Outpost based in Meridian, Idaho, which has donated all of the comic books.  The Friends of Baker County Library group also provides money for the raffle prizes.

More information about this year’s comic book titles can be found online at www.freecomicbookday.com. Updates about the event at Baker County Public Library will be shared on its website and social media pages.

For questions or more information, call Library Director Perry Stokes at 541-523-6419.
