Jesse Brown ties for first in 7th go-round at National Finals Rodeo, wins $30,155

Baker City steer wrestler Jesse Brown had his best performance of the National Finals Rodeo in the seventh round on Wednesday night, Dec. 11, taking down his steer in 3.5 seconds to tie for first and win $30,155.
Brown tied with Dakota Eldridge in the seventh of 10 rounds in the event at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, which continues through Saturday, Dec. 14.
Brown, competing on rodeo’s biggest stage for the fifth straight year, had the fastest time, 3.6 seconds, in the fifth round to win $33,687. Brown tied for fifth in the third round to win $7,063.
Brown didn’t record a time during the eighth round on Thursday.
Through eight rounds Brown is fifth in the world standings with season earnings of $216,172. Eldridge is in first with earnings of $264,434.
Brown was in sixth place entering the National Finals Rodeo. He finished third in the world standings in 2023, and fifth in 2022.
