Two girls, 12 and 14, hurt in jet ski accident at Phillips Reservoir

Two girls, ages 12 and 14, were hurt when they fell off the jet ski both were riding on at Phillips Reservoir on the evening of July 6.

One of the girls sustained a head injury and was taken by a Life Flight helicopter to a regional hospital. The other girl went home with relatives, according to a press release from the Baker County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident, which is under investigation, happened around 6 p.m.

Kelsie McDaniel, who with her husband pulled the girls from the water, brought them by boat to Union Creek Campground on the north shore of the reservoir.

Both girls were wearing life jackets, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the U.S. Forest Service, Powder River Rural Fire Protection District, Pioneer Ambulance and Life Flight.
