Just home from our travels, the stack of Baker City Heralds on the counter looks appealing. Smaller than in the old dailies days when there would have been 20 papers instead of 6, I should be able to skim through the recent news quickly, before starting post-vacation chores.
An hour later, I realized again how fortunate we are to have a good local paper, filled with interesting and finely crafted original articles. We’ve come to expect excellent journalism from Lisa Britton, Jayson Jacoby and Ian Crawford, but I also noted the contributions by community professionals like Jeffrey Pettingill and Dan Smithson, and features from other regional EO Media contributors like Ann Bloom, Samantha O’Connor and Mike McInally. This solid reporting is well packaged and presented, too — good editing shows and keeps the reader engaged.
My stack of papers only shrunk a bit yesterday. I decided that the Herald deserves better than a quick read. I might miss something. Like quality journalism.
