LA GRANDE — Trout stocking is underway across Northeastern Oregon, as the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife releases thousands of legal-size rainbow trout in ponds and reservoirs over the next several weeks.

The agency also is releasing hundreds of trophy-size trout.

Larger bodies of water, such as Wallowa Lake, the Highway 203 Pond near Baker City, Murray Reservoir east of Unity, Phillips Reservoir near Sumpter, Magone Lake north of Prairie City and Kinney Lake east of Joseph, are all slated to have thousands of trout stocked this spring.

Morgan Lake near La Grande opens for fishing on April 22. The lake is scheduled to be stocked with 500 legal rainbows the week of April 21-25, and 1,750 more the week of May 26-30.
