BAKER BOYS GOLF: Bulldogs place 2nd at Pendleton tournament

MISSION — The Baker boys golf team placed second at the Nels Nelson Invitational tournament Monday, April 7, at Wildhorse.

Eli Long was second overall with a one-under par round of 71.

Jaxon Logsdon was fifth with an 80, Jake Holden ninth with a round of 84, and Palmer Chandler 12th with an 87. Jace Whitford carded a 96.

Baker’s team score of 322 (top four finishers) was six shots behind Hanford, Washington. Baker was 12 shots ahead of Pendleton. La Grande was fourth at 390.

Baker had a team score of 317 at a tournament at Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla, Washington, on March 24.

Long tied for second with a round of 74. Palmer tied for fourth at 79, Whitford was sixth with a round of 80, Holden shot an 84, Grant Gambleton 90 and Ben Nudd 118.

Jayson has worked at the Baker City Herald since November 1992, starting as a reporter. He has been editor since December 2007. He graduated from the University of Oregon Journalism School in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in news-editorial journalism.
