Driver cited for going 112 mph on freeway, failing to secure child passenger

A Spokane, Washington, woman was cited for driving at 112 mph on Interstate 84 in Baker City late on Monday, March 17, with a child passenger who was not properly secured.

Ariel Julia Payne, 28, was stopped at 10:58 p.m. on the westbound freeway near the Campbell Street interchange, according to a citation written by Oregon State Police Trooper Trevor Freese.

Payne was cited for speeding, with a presumptive fine of $1,150, for failing to properly secure a child passenger and for an unlawful or unsignaled lane change. The latter two violations have presumptive fines of $115.
