Baker City Downtown, the nonprofit that seeks to revitalize the city’s historic downtown district, has been accepted at the Designated Main Street level for the Oregon Main Street network.

“BCD is incredibly excited to become a Designated Main Street program to better support our downtown community,” Ariel Reker, BCD’s executive director, said in a press release.

Reker said BCD’s mission is “to preserve and enhance the vitality and character of our community through the beautification, promotion, and development of downtown Baker City. BCD is connected with Oregon Main Street and follows the Main Street America 4-Point Approach to historic downtown revitalization.”

Reker said BCD, by qualifying at the Designated Main Street level, has access to technical assistance to help the organization continue its work.

“Baker City Downtown is incredibly excited to achieve this next level of Oregon Main Street to better support our downtown community,” Reker said. “We look forward to utilizing the additional resources to improve our organization and provide the best services to our community.”
