Get ready now for The Little Big Show

BAKER CITY — Hot August nights seem so far away, but it’s time to start thinking about that month and The Little Big Show.

Each year, the 10th annual Little Big Show debuts during the First Friday art walk in August. If you collect the art of a certain local artist, the race is on to search the venues and pick up the latest work.

The “little” part of the title refers to the size of the canvas, which are boards that measure eight inches square.

Local, regional and out-of-state artists are welcome to participate.

Paint a masterpiece

First, the art must be created and anyone is welcome to participate.

Boards can be picked up on Friday, March 7, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. during the First Friday art walk at Churchill School, 3451 Broadway St.

Artists can take up to eight boards but are asked to take only as many as can be finished by the art show. There is a nonrefundable $5 fee to participate.

The art may be 3D, but cannot extend over the sides of the board and should be not very fragile.

All pieces will sell for $45. Of that total, $35 goes to the artist and $10 goes to the charity of choice of the participating gallery. Artwork cannot be pre-sold or held at the galleries. All Little Big Show art is sold first come, first served, on opening day.

For more information and to pick up boards, stop by Churchill on Friday, March 7. To make different arrangements, contact Brian Vegter at dogbri@icloud.com or 541-325-1689.
