Current CEO and Co-Founder Sascha Mornell elevated to Board of Directors

MENLO PARK, Calif., Feb. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Getmyboat, the world’s largest boat rental marketplace, today announced that longtime executive and Chief Operating Officer Bryan Petro has been promoted to CEO. He succeeds Co-Founder Sascha Mornell, who remains on the Board of Directors. Mr. Mornell co-founded the company with business partner Raf Collado in 2013, serving as CEO since its inception, and has expertly guided the company over the past 12 years to its current leadership position in the boat rental industry.

Mr. Petro was the first employee at Getmyboat, hired to build and oversee product design, company organization, and growth. He has been the driving force behind the company’s global expansion since 2013. He also established every department, from marketing, sales, and customer service to product, engineering, and design. Over time, he hired new leaders for these teams to keep pace with the company’s phenomenal growth while evolving into the Chief Operations Officer role.

Mr. Petro also facilitated Getmyboat’s first external capital raise from Yanmar, a multi-billion dollar Japanese multinational conglomerate and strategic investor, which ultimately led to Yanmar’s majority acquisition in 2021. He has helped grow and evolve Getmyboat into the largest boat rental marketplace in the world and will continue to achieve this mission as CEO.

“Bryan was employee number one at Getmyboat — there is no Getmyboat without Bryan,” said Mornell. “I am so thankful for his contributions over the years and so proud of what he has accomplished. We are poised for the next exponential growth phase under his leadership.”

“I am honored to step into this role and carry forward the remarkable legacy Sascha has built at Getmyboat. His visionary leadership transformed the company from a simple idea of making it easier to rent a boat into the world’s largest boat rental marketplace,” said Petro. “With deep gratitude for his guidance, I am committed to building on this strong foundation and driving Getmyboat to even greater success.”

For over a decade, Getmyboat has streamlined the process of renting and chartering boats worldwide, enabling millions of customers to create lasting memories on the water and empowering thousands of boat rental businesses to grow and thrive. Under the leadership of Mr. Petro, Getmyboat is poised for continued expansion and innovation, further solidifying its position as the global leader in hourly boat rentals and yacht charters.
