The Baker/Powder Valley boys and girls wrestling teams were on the home mats Thursday evening, Feb. 6, for duals against Pendleton and Grant Union.

It was the Bulldog boys’ only competition at BHS. The girls wrestled at home in January.

The Bulldog seniors were also honored: Marli Lind, Lilly Collins, Anastacio Rodriguez, Aldo Duran, Alex Wise and Alex Brown.

The Bulldog girls won both duals, 36-12 over Pendleton and 25-24 over Grant Union. Lilly Collins went 3-0, and Tessa Garrick and Taryn Niday were both 2-0.

The Baker/Powder Valley boys lost 44-28 to Pendleton and 60-24 to Grant Union, as the Bulldogs didn’t have wrestlers for multiple weight classes and had to forfeit those matches. Daniel Maldonado won both of his matches.

The Bulldogs now prepare for the district tournaments, where wrestlers will seek to qualify for the state tournament Feb. 27-March 1 in Portland.

The girls district tournament will be Feb. 14-15 at La Grande High School. The boys district tournament will be Feb. 21-22, also at La Grande High School.
