Baker County gas prices a bit above Oregon average

- With the Thanksgiving weekend approaching, gasoline prices in Baker County are slightly above the Oregon average.
With the busiest travel period of the year approaching, gasoline prices have dipped the lowest averages in 2024, both nationwide and in Oregon.
Those prices are likely to continue dropping slightly as Thanksgiving arrives, said Marie Dodds, public affairs director for AAA Oregon/Idaho.
Nationally, the average price has dropped to $3.06 per gallon for regular unleaded as of Tuesday, Nov. 26, and could go below $3 for the first time since May 2021.
Oregon’s average price is well above the national average, at $3.55 on Tuesday.
That’s the fifth-highest average among states, behind Hawaii ($4.57), California ($4.43), Washington ($4.00) and Nevada ($3.70).
Oklahoma has the lowest average price, at $2.51.
Among other states in the West, Idaho’s average is $3.11, Montana’s is $2.96, Wyoming’s is $3.02 and Utah’s is $3.04.
Baker County’s average price is slightly above the Oregon average, at $3.61. The price at most stations in Baker City is a bit lower, generally between $3.55 and $3.59. Black’s Distributing on Broadway is at $3.35, according to Gas Buddy.
Baker County’s average is lower than three of its four neighboring counties — Union ($3.73), Grant ($3.71) and Wallowa ($3.95). Wallowa County’s average is the highest among Oregon’s 36 counties.
Malheur County’s average is $3.46. Other averages in the region include Umatilla ($3.40), Morrow ($3.45), Harney ($3.76) and Gilliam ($3.49).
Baker County’s average price is lower than in the Portland metro area, where prices range from $3.63 in Clackamas County to $3.73 in Multnomah County and $3.80 in Washington County.
