Halfway man killed in crash on Highway 86

A 26-year-old Halfway man died in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 86 east of Baker City on Thursday morning, Nov. 7.
Devin Orion Antaya Rasmussen was killed in the crash, according to Oregon State Police.
A preliminary investigation by OSP showed that Rasmussen was driving a Toyota Corolla east on the highway near Milepost 28 when he failed to make a corner and went off the highway. The car landed on its roof in the Powder River, according to OSP.
Rasmussen died at the scene, which is in the Powder River Canyon about 28 miles east of Baker City and 13 miles west of Richland.
OSP was assisted by the Baker County Sheriff’s Office and ODOT.
