Hospitals are places of healing, hope, and health. They provide 24/7 care to patients and work with community partners to develop and lead programs that advance health and well-being. Yet violence against healthcare professionals is increasing. Overall, healthcare professionals are five times more likely to experience workplace violence than workers in other fields.
Attacks and abuse also interfere with patient care when providers fear for their safety, become distracted by disruptive patients or family members, or suffer trauma from prior violent interactions. These types of incidents also consume scarce hospital and health system resources, which in turn impact the care available for other patients.
Saint Alphonsus Health System has worked diligently to establish policies and programs to protect our employees and promote a safe environment for patient care.
Saint Alphonsus will not tolerate threats, threatening behavior, or acts of violence by or against its employees. We are committed to maintaining a workplace free from violent or threatening behavior by fostering a work environment of awareness, education, and prevention for our employees and patients.
