Something is rotten in the state of Baker City… Prior to determining the cause of the fire, Baker School District 5J has hired a company to destroy the historic Central Building school for approximately 1.1 million dollars. Why are we permitting this?

First, the District must determine the cause of the fire before destroying the evidence.

Second, 1.1 million dollars is far too much money for destruction of this structure. The job can be done for half that amount. It doesn’t matter that this was the lowest of “three bids.” That is just silly.

The entire matter lacks transparency and reeks.
