- Baker's Rasean Jones, No. 8, runs for one of his three touchdowns while Crook County's Garrett Stefanek pursues on Oct. 20, 2023.
Baker football star Rasean Jones had another standout performance in his second year playing the annual Les Schwab Bowl, a showcase for some of Oregon’s top high school athletes.
Jones, who will be a junior wide receiver this fall at Baker High School, led the Willamette team with nine receptions for 93 yards and two touchdowns in the June 28 game at Lewis & Clark College in Portland.
Jones also had two rushes for nine yards.
He had one kickoff return for 13 yards and led all players, on both teams, with 115 all-purpose yards.
On defense he had one solo tackle.
Columbia beat Willamette, 39-26.
A year ago Jones, just after finishing his freshman year at BHS, also played in the Les Schwab Bowl.
For his performance in this year’s game, Jones was named the top offensive back for the Willamette team.
Both of his touchdown catches were thrown by Max Nowlin, who will be a senior at Scappoose. Both touchdowns were in the fourth quarter.
The 6-foot-3 Jones has received scholarship offers from Oregon State, Washington State and Boise State. He was a first-team all-state player as a sophomore. He had a season-high 14 receptions for 205 yards in Baker’s win over Pendleton to clinch the Greater Oregon League title in October 2023.
In addition to football, Jones is a four-time Oregon Class 4A state champion hurdler. He won both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles races at the 2023 and 2024 Class 4A state meets.
In this year’s meet Jones broke the Class 4A state records in both events, as well as the Class 4A state meet records in each race.
