The Baker County YMCA has received a Find Hunger, Serve Hope Grant to serve breakfast for the community on Tuesday, July 9, at Geiser-Pollman Park.

The Baker County YMCA is serving breakfast, for free, to the community on Tuesday, July 9, at Geiser-Pollman Park.

The event is made possible by a Fight Hunger, Serve Hope Grant that the YMCA received from the Safeway Albertsons Foundation.

From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the YMCA will serve pancakes, sausage and juice. Everyone is welcome.

Looking ahead a few weeks, the YMCA will begin a project to repave the parking lot at the fitness center, 3715 Pocahontas Road, starting in early July.

The project will take four to six weeks. Half of the lot will be finished first, then work will move to the other half.

Once finished, the new parking lot will have 40 to 50 additional spaces, plus a sidewalk in the middle, lighting for safety and additional ADA-accessible spots.

“It’s a big deal for us,” said CEO Koby Myer. “It’ll be really nice.”

The project will be funded by donations and grants.
