This was a difficult week for the Baker City Herald and for its parent company, EO Media Group.
The company announced that it is cutting 28 jobs by the end of June.
In addition, the Herald’s Tuesday issue will no longer be published.
We will continue to cover local news, however, all of which will be available to subscribers at www.bakercityherald.com. Many stories will also be published in a weekly issue of the East Oregonian, which will be available to subscribers and will include news from all of EO Media’s newspapers in Northeast Oregon — the East Oregonian in Pendleton, The Observer in La Grande, the Hermiston Herald, the Wallowa County Chieftain in Enterprise, and the Blue Mountain Eagle in John Day.
Go! magazine will continue to be published, and will be inserted in the weekly paper.

After a relatively tranquil wildfire season in 2023, due in part to a record-setting rainstorm in late August, fire managers from local, state and federal agencies are expecting a season closer to normal in 2024, which means a chance for larger blazes.
