I am excited that Dave Drotzmann has chosen to run for the State Senate representing District 29. He represents a new generation of leaders willing to pick up the baton.

If there is anything this country needs, it is fresh new ideas and new leadership. During the 10 years I spent as a Umatilla County commissioner, one of our closest partners was the city of Hermiston led by Dave as the mayor. Together, we initiated many exciting joint projects, which are on display in that community.

Umatilla County is the largest county in District 29, and Hermiston is the largest community. Both entities need a strong presence in Salem as do the rest of the communities in our county and throughout the district.

One of the greatest challenges of a senator from Eastern Oregon is being able to develop allies across the aisle. Dave is currently the president of the League of Oregon Cities and has established those relationships in all corners of Oregon. He knows the players who make a profound difference in this state, and he already has the reputation and contacts to hit the ground running.

I could go on at length about his success as a businessman, his leadership on the Hermiston School Board and of course his impact as the mayor of his community. Add to all of that is Dave as a person of impeccable integrity and a person who respects people in all walks and stations of life.

Fighting for the interests of Eastern Oregon is an uphill battle and there is no doubt in my mind that Dave has the experience and credentials to provide the representation we need.
