Curtis Martin is my recommendation for Baker County commissioner. I have known Curtis for a number of years through Baker County Livestock Association (BCLA), Oregon Cattlemen’s Association (OCA), and lately, regarding Oregon DEQ’s Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) process for the Powder River.
Regarding OCA, he served as president 2012-13 but served for years before that and remained active after his presidency. Through his involvement and leadership, he gained familiarity with state government and understands how political processes function and how to impact legislation, funding and activities. This is incredibly valuable experience.
In his involvement with the TMDL process, he has shown technical knowledge of the scientific aspects and made many positive suggestions to DEQ that will improve the research and eventual outcomes. By his political action and acumen, he has demonstrated commitment to agriculture, which is the livelihood of Baker County.
We share belief that political support of ranchers, farmers, and associated businesses is vital to our future, and faith in God who blesses us, in our case to be able to live in the beautiful part of Northeast Oregon. Curtis has lived his life as a rancher but takes time to be involved in industry organizations who serve to protect our way of life here and look for ways to protect future ranchers and farmers. Serving as county commissioner simply extends his time, energy and commitment to looking out for us. He has a big heart and energy beyond understanding. He is intense, focused, smart, and caring for today and the future. It is easy to recognize and say that Curtis Martin is the right choice for county commissioner.
