BAKER TENNIS: Bulldogs dominate matches against La Grande, Payette

The Baker tennis teams were busy over the past week, traveling to La Grande on April 16, then playing host to Nyssa on April 18 and to Payette, Idaho, on April 19. Baker won most of the matches against La Grande and Payette.
AT LA GRANDE, APRIL 16
“One constant this season has been wind, and our kids battled with gusts and chilly weather during the match in La Grande,” Baker coach Amy Younger said. “Baker came away with wins across nearly all of our matches.”
The Bulldogs were 6-1 in singles and 5-2 in doubles.

“We always look forward to the challenge of playing Nyssa, which has been strong in boys singles for a number of years,” Younger said. “Although we dropped the matches in varsity boys singles, it was good for our athletes to play tough opponents. Baker won the top two boys doubles matches, including an exciting comeback with the team of Brandon McCullough and Noah Lien, who won their match in a tiebreaker.”

“On an almost perfect day for tennis, Baker won nearly all matches against Payette,” Younger said.
Baker went 5-2 in singles matches and 4-0 in doubles on a sunny day with temperatures in the 60s.

Baker plays host to Pendleton on Tuesday, April 23 and to Vale on Thursday, April 25. Matches start at 3 p.m. both days at the Ash Grove courts near the Baker Sports Complex.
A group of Baker girls will travel to Madras for the Madras Invitational on Saturday, April 27.
