PRAIRIE CITY — Baker Middle School’s girls and boys track and field teams both placed second at the Prairie City meet on Friday, April 19.

La Grande won both the boys and girls meets.

The Powder Valley boys placed third in the boys meet and the Badger girls were sixth. Huntington also competed, placing 14th in the boys meet.

Baker had several individual champions.

In the boys meet, Everett Freeland won the 200 meters, Bryson Petrucci was first in the 400 and Jake Holden won the high jump. Powder Valley boys individual winners were Brand Bingham in the 800 meters, Caiden Anderson-Ficek in both hurdles races, and Jackson Cox in the shot put.

On the girls side, Matty Gressley won the 3,000 meters, Molly Rasmussen won the high jump, Kate Norton won the shot put and discus, and the Baker team of Juniper Joseph, Brylee Bain, Noelle Quintela and Rasmussen won the 4×100 relay.

Powder Valley’s Hannah Martin won the long jump.

Baker will compete in a meet at Crane on Wednesday, April 24.
