LA GRANDE — Baker Middle School track and field athletes competed in their first meet of the year at the Wildcat Invite in La Grande on April 12.

Powder Valley also competed in the event.

Baker placed second in the boys meet, behind La Grande. Powder Valley was fifth.

In the girls meet, Baker was third behind La Grande and Imbler. Powder Valley placed sixth.

Baker’s individual champions included Kate Norton, who swept the throwing events (shot put, discus and javelin), Bryson Petrucci in the 200 meters, and Baker’s boys 4×400 relay team of Everett Freeland, Henry Gaslin, Petrucci and Jake Holden.

Powder Valley’s Caiden Anderson-Ficek won both boys hurdles races, Brand Bingham won the 800 meters, Jackson Cox won the shot put, and Hannah Martin won the 100 meters.

Baker will compete at Prairie City on Friday, April 19.
