WEISER, Idaho — The Baker/Powder Valley tennis teams traveled to Weiser on March 25 and won several matches against the Wolverines.

Baker had to rearrange its roster a bit as some players were traveling for spring break.

“Weiser is always a great team to play,” Baker coach Amy Younger said.

One of the more exciting, and longer, matches, was in girls singles as Baker freshman Liz Timm beat Hailey Rux in three sets, all of which went to a tiebreaker after the players each won six games.

(In tiebreakers, the winner is the first player to win at least seven points and lead by at least two points.)

Timm lost the first set tiebreaker, 7-5, then won the next two tiebreakers, 7-3 and 7-2.

“That was a really long match, but Liz stayed focused and came out with the win,” Younger said.

Baker travels to Pendleton on Tuesday, April 2 for a league match, then heads to Ontario on Thursday, April 4 for another league match, starting at 2 p.m. PDT.
