Applications are now open for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards for Idaho and Eastern Oregon.
High school students who will be incoming juniors to outgoing seniors are eligible to apply for this four-day summer camp held July 12-15 at Camp Cascade in Donnelly, Idaho. Applicants are sponsored by the local Rotary Club, which pays the camp fee of $550. There is no cost to students.
Every year, 60 to 100 teenagers from around Eastern Oregon and Idaho attend this leadership camp.
The Rotary Youth Leadership Award program, also called RYLA, includes the four-day summer camp, two one-day followup workshops, potential mentoring opportunities from local Rotary members, the potential to return to RYLA summer camp as a camp leader, and other leadership opportunities within Rotary International.
“Students that have attended in the past have claimed that it was a life changing experience, and that they gained many new friends across the region,” said Ken Krohn, a member of the Baker City Rotary Club.
Applications are open through April 15 and available online at ryla5400.weebly.com/.
Candidates are selected by the local Rotary Club, and awardees will be notified between May 1 and May 15.
