GIRLS BASKETBALL: Baker, Powder Valley both at home for playoff games this afternoon

The Baker girls basketball team will be on their home court this afternoon to play Phoenix in a Class 4A play-in game at 1 p.m.
The winner advances to the 16-team playoffs, with a berth in the 8-team state tournament March 7-9 at Forest Grove High School on the line and a chance for the Bulldogs to defend their 2023 state title.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students. Passes will not be accepted.
The Powder Valley girls, who have won 11 straight games, will take on Chiloquin at 2 p.m. in North Powder for a berth in the state tournament Feb. 28-March 2 at Baker High School.
Phoenix, from the Medford area, is 13-10. The Pirates were 4-4 in the Skyline Conference. They lost twice each to Henley, the second-ranked Class 4A team, and Klamath Union, ranked fifth.
Baker is ranked 14th.
Phoenix and Baker didn’t have any common opponents.
