POWDER VALLEY GIRLS BASKETBALL: Badgers beat C.S. Lewis, advance to second round of Class 1A playoffs

The Powder Valley girls basketball team dominated the last three quarters to beat C.S. Lewis Academy of Newberg 51-19 in a Class 1A first-round playoff game Wednesday night at North Powder.

The Badgers have won 12 straight games.

Powder Valley will now play host to Chiloquin on Saturday, Feb. 24, with a berth in the state tournament at Baker High School, Feb. 28-March 2, on the line. Saturday’s game tips off at 2 p.m. Chiloquin advanced with a 57-41 win over Joseph, also on Wednesday night.

Powder Valley beat Joseph three times this season, by scores of 52-15, 41-24 and 46-26.

On Wednesday the Badgers outscored the Watchmen 37-10 in the final three quarters.

C.S. Lewis took its last lead at 8-7. Powder Valley ended the first quarter with a 7-1 run, with Nevaeh Schuldt scoring three straight baskets.

The Badgers extended the run into the second quarter, scoring 19 straight points and outscoring the Watchmen 21-2 in the quarter to lead 35-11 at halftime.

Powder Valley improved to 20-6 on the season.
