Eighteen local children, accompanied by law enforcement officials, went on a shopping spree for their families (including pets) and themselves at D&B Supply in Baker City as the Shop with a Cop event took place for the first time since 2019.

The campaign to build Baker City’s first splashpad — a place where kids and others can cool off on hot summer days — received a major boost this week with a $48,000 grant from T-Mobile. The splashpad is slated to be built in 2024 in Central Park.

A handmade American flag afghan is being raffled to raise money to support local veterans through the Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter in Baker City.

A search committee has picked three finalists for the Baker City manager position. The city council plans to choose one of the finalists — the list includes current interim city manager Jon France, who has had that position since late June — by the end of the year.
