BLM to hire interns next year

The Bureau of Land Management is planning to hire 100 interns age 16 and older for summer employment in 2024. Interns who successfully complete the program are eligible for noncompetitive conversion to permanent or term positions within the federal government.

Trainee opportunities are available in civil engineering; public affairs; information technology (IT); archaeology; outdoor recreation; environmental protection; natural resources; wildland fire; GIS; realty; surveying; land law; grant management; contracting; and budget.

Applications will close Friday, Dec. 15. To be eligible, students must be currently enrolled and seeking a degree, diploma or certificate from an accredited high school, technical or vocational school, 2-year or 4-year college or university, graduate or professional school, on a full- or half-time basis.

An intern application workshop is set for Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at BLM’s Baker Field Office, 3100 H St. Interested candidates can also drop in between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14.

BLM staff will walk candidates through the usajobs.gov application process and assist them in submitting applications.
