Baker City store not on Rite Aid closure list

- The Rite Aid store in Baker City is not among those slated for closure as part of the company's bankruptcy filing on Oct. 15.
Baker City’s Rite Aid store is not among the 150 or so stores the company plans to close as part of its bankruptcy filing.
According to court records, the only Oregon Rite Aid store slated for closure is in Portland.
Rite Aid filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Oct. 15.
In a statement about the filing, Rite Aid stated that as part of the bankruptcy, the company intends “to close certain underperforming stores to further reduce rent expenses and strengthen overall financial
performance.”
The company hasn’t announced closure dates for affected stores.
According to the company’s statement, it has secured a commitment for $3.45 billion in financing to keep the company operating during the
bankruptcy.
The company does not intend to shut down.
