Apple plans an anticipated upgrade
And while Apple remains tight-lipped about the details surrounding its event, plenty of reports about what exactly we might catch a glimpse of are rolling in early.
One of the most exciting reports relates to Apple’s iPad, which has seen a slump in sales in recent years and has not received much of a refresh in the past five years.
Apple isn’t expected to release its new upgrade at the September event, but that hasn’t stopped speculation about the new gadget from swirling.
Bloomberg reports that the iPad Pro will receive a much-needed upgrade sometime in 2024. Here’s what that might look like:
- New 11-inch and 13-inch size models
- Refreshed Magic Keyboard
- New M3 chip
- Crisper, better displays
- OLED displays (which are also used on iPhone models X and later)
The Magic Keyboard features a trackpad and a smart enabled keyboard, which essentially turns an iPad into a laptop. That’s expected to be on of the big hits for the upgrade. It’s believed it will receive a larger trackpad in the upgrade and make new iPads feel even more like true laptops.
The upgrades and refreshes couldn’t come at a better time. Tablet sales at Apple have been lagging; revenue for the segment was down 20% year-over-year in fiscal Q3.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the iPad upgrade.
