David Walter Bobo: 81, of Baker City, died Aug. 19, 2023, at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise. Fire report
Tuesday, Aug. 22, 7:03 p.m.; Baker City Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in a garbage can outside Baker High School. The fire was out when firefighters arrived. There was no damage, and the fire is under investigation, Fire Chief Todd Jaynes said.

Monday, Aug. 21, 6:21 a.m. on Interstate 84, Milepost 305 westbound; a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Foaga V. Atafua, 51, of Auburn, Washington, lost control and struck the concrete center divider and then hit the guardrail on the right shoulder. Atafua told police that his car hydroplaned on the wet road. Both Atafua and his passenger, Dana Atafua, 53, of Anchorage, Alaska, were treated and released at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Baker City.
