The ESPN summer shake-up continues, this time with The Walt Disney Co. (DIS) – Get Free Report sports network cutting a major behind-the-scenes decision maker.
ESPN has let go of Lee Fitting, who was the Senior Vice President of Production, according to multiple reports. Fitting led the network’s major football coverage for both college football and the NFL, including ESPN properties like “Monday Night Football” and “College GameDay.”
Fitting had been with the company since 1996, according to a now deleted ESPN Press Room bio.

According to a report by OutKick, Norby Williamson, ESPN’s Head of Event & Studio Production, informed employees that Fitting was no longer with the company on Monday, August 21, the same day that ESPN aired its lone “Monday Night Football” preseason broadcast for the 2023 NFL season.
ESPN had also just announced its new on-air line-up for “Monday Night Football” earlier in the day, including a multiyear contract for the show’s new host Scott Van Pelt.

The show’s first official NFL game of the season will be on September 11 when the New York Jets host the Buffalo Bills.
ESPN declined TheStreet’s request for comment.
