Veterans golf for free on Aug. 20 at Quail Ridge
Quail Ridge Golf Course invites veterans, and their immediate family, from Baker and Union counties to golf for free during a veterans appreciation day on Sunday, Aug. 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the golf course, 2801 Indiana Ave. Cart and club rentals are included for free. Also, a free barbecue lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Veterans services and information will be available at the clubhouse during the day. Those planning to attend are encouraged to call ahead for tee times, 541-523-2358. This event is put on by Quail Ridge in partnership with the Union County Center for Human Development.
Crossroads is celebrating seniors on Aug. 21
Crossroads Carnegie Art Center, 2020 Auburn Ave., is celebrating National Senior Citizen Day on Monday, Aug. 21, with a special day just for seniors to explore the art center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with snacks, coffee and pottery demonstrations.
A special craft project is planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Garwood Allen will provide live music at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. An afternoon treat will be homemade ice cream from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. For information, call Crossroads at 541-523-5369.
Play Music on the Porch Day is Aug. 26
Powder River Music Revue will celebrate World Play Music on the Porch Day on Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Powder River Pavilion in Geiser-Pollman Park. Musicians and vocalists of all ages and skill levels are invited to attend. The first session will begin at 2 p.m. and run for approximately 45 minutes. Each session will begin at the top of the hour.
Three locals elected as delegates to Angus Association convention
Three Baker City residents have been elected as delegates to the 140th American Angus Association convention of delegates set for Nov. 6 in Orlando, Florida.
Lori Thomas, Rob Thomas and Clint Brightwell are among 294 Angus breeders chosen by fellow members in their states to serve as representatives at the annual convention.
The delegates will elect new officers and five directors to the American Angus Association board.
