Unfortunately the Baker City Council has made the front page again. This time because a member cannot be associated with decisions that contradict his values. If I am not mistaken, the councilors are elected to assess the needs of the city and assure that those needs are met to the best of their ability. It is sort of like the little boy who wanted to play by his rules or he was going to take his ball and go home. I daresay that everyone is allowed to have their own values, and live by them, but you do not force those values on any one else.
Take a good look at the Congress of the United States, these members are so busy pointing fingers and “getting even” they have forgotten to assess the needs of the people, and for that reason nothing worthwhile is being accomplished. They say we have runaway inflation, border problems, abortion problems, and on and on, but do we see anything being done? I don’t.
It’s time for the Baker City Council to get their act together, forget their own personal agendas, and organize as a governing body and get this city back on track.
