Baker County Library District launches free digital streaming service

The Baker County Library District has launched a digital media service that gives patrons instant access to movies, TV shows, music, audiobooks, E-books and comics.

Hoopla Digital started Saturday, July 1.

Patrons can use their library card to access streaming content for smartphones, tablets and computers. The service is available at all times.

Because the service operates on a pay-per-use (PPU) subscription model, each library account is set for a maximum of four Hoopla borrows per month. This cap is necessary for budget management since the library is charged for each item borrowed, with rates varying between $1 and $4. On the first day of each month, each borrower’s allotment will reset to four.

“We are thrilled to introduce Hoopla Digital to our community,” Perry Stokes, director of the library district, said in a press release. “With this innovative platform, our patrons will have a wealth of entertainment and educational resources at their fingertips. Hoopla Digital aligns with our mission to provide convenient access to information and enrich the lives of our library users.”

To access Hoopla Digital, library cardholders need to download the Hoopla app from their device’s app store or visit the Baker County Library District website — bakerlib.org. Once logged in, they can begin exploring the catalog and start borrowing digital content.

The launch of Hoopla Digital reflects the Baker County Library District’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technology and providing innovative services to meet the evolving needs of our community. It is yet another step in our ongoing efforts to foster a love for reading, learning, and digital engagement among our patrons.
