Powder Basin Watershed Council friends and partners,

We would like to extend our deepest thanks to all the volunteers, partners, and sponsors who participated in the 2023 Baker City Spring Cleanup! This was a collaborative endeavor between Solve Oregon, Baker City Downtown, the Tree Board, and the Powder Basin Watershed Council to perform several beautification activities throughout the city. Wonderful local sponsors for this event included North Seven Brewing Company and Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort.

Forty-six volunteers with the Powder Basin Watershed Council and Solve Oregon worked diligently to pick up trash along the Leo Adler Memorial Parkway, working from Hughes Lane all the way to Central Park. A few tenacious volunteers even braved a Powder River plunge to remove garbage from the turbid flow. In total, our amazing volunteers filled a 1-cubic yard dumpster to the brim, which is approximately 202 gallons of trash! Of our collected items, the strangest find was a rusty teal scooter, followed closely by an old bed frame, and a plastic stool.

Finally, we cannot thank you enough! The turnout for this event was monumental, and we are so appreciative of the community’s dedication to improving their city, their river, and the environment.

Lookout for our next event in fall 2023 where we tackle a deep clean of the Powder River!
